KATE. Pin-Up Girl.

This is my One Of A Kind doll. She is sculpted by me from a mix of clays without use of any molds.

She is almost 9in tall ( with flowers on top and base she is about 9.5 ).

She is painted with Genesis paints. The hair is mohair. Her eyes have clear lens for realistic effect. Her eyelashes are painted.

Her lace outfit is removable to reveal the (almost) nude figurine, just to give you option.

The doll is removable from the base for the transport.

SPRING CLEANING !!!

Along with the spring comes cleaning.
I have opened the box with items to sale. There is this fairy wanting a new home and the last of my Candy and Cinnamon figurines of the first series.
Well... I had to put my hands on Cinnamon... she needed a make-over, because I thought she is more pretty than I allowed her to be at the first time. So I have stripped her down from all the paint and gave her new shades and face-up. And yes, she has eyelash now !

IN MY WONDERLAND

This time I wish to show You something different...

I have spent a lot of time searching, choosing, waiting... followed by few nights of putting together these little wonderland-inspired sets. All made with Love.
I wanted the vintage look and the "Alice in Wonderland" as a charming inspiration.

They are available now in my Etsy shop.

THE NEED OF 3D

I am a learning artist.
I can't really imagine stop learning.
Recently I felt desperate to find a good and cheap 3D body reference. Of course there are some awesome examples from AnatomyTools but quite out of my financial limit. There are also brilliant photos for artists in internet, there are few quality services to register that offer body references. It's a great tool to learn realistic shapes. However, I must admit I am very much "touch everything" person... I just HAVE TO TOUCH ! By the way, I love Louvre... :)
Unfortunately I was very unsuccessfull in my search for cheap 3D body reference of realistic look and correct anatomy... so... I had to do it on my own.

Meet Lavender, my dummy.
Dummy is not the best word probably... She is a Body Of Reference. It sounds better. I can't call her a PIECE. She was not ment to be one. She has a lot of imperfections, she has a lot of breaks which I fixed and covered up in very messy way... She is made from the mix of old crumbly (also not very clean) purple clay and some other combinations... But it is not her purpose to be perfect, she only needs to be still. And in "OK" proportions. I am still learning anatomy myself and I am far from CORRECT but lavender gives me 3D reference to keep the general shape and proportion, the size, the size of the wire for armature, some shapes to not forget or to think in advance while sculpting, also the shapes to correct or make better.

This is my new piece. Geisha bust.
Geisha?... well.. not traditional one... lets say Geisha-inspired. It is such a beautiful theme for any art work and I love all interpretations of it.
My Geisha started as an idea, then a drawing, but the sculpt turned out to be something very diffrent. Gothique, burlesque, pin-up...?.. I am not really sure. It is what it wanted to be. I enjoyed making her so much. I hope you like her as I do...

This is my new OOAK doll.

MERMAID'S FADO

- made of Fimo, sculpted over wire armature
- measurement : 5,5in (14cm)in her position with base, if she was standing she would be probably about 10in (25cm)
- hair is black viscose
- green eyes made by me, they have clear lens
- body and tail painted with Genesis heat-set paints
- tail fin is flexible and can be gently posed
- the base is fimo sculpted over a wood plaque + decorations ( scull and crab are sculpted by me, the irises are purchased from top quality miniarurist seller,they are hand-made )
- the doll is removable from the base

MY FIRST FACE-UP

I loooove BJDs!!!!!!!
Who doesn't?
There is something magical about them...
They are real art in movement.

I don't have any BJD. I never even had one in my hands.

Well... I have one Obitsu. I bought her a year ago and since then I was always looking for her parts in all house as my 3 year old son would spin her all over the place....

I didn't fell in love with her... for those who don't know - Obitsu is not strung. It is not really a BJD.
But it moves and is cheap.

I also picked the wrong size body for the head so I was totaly not interested with her for a looong time....

Until now !
I realised she has a little cute face and I decided to paint it !
YES!!! ME!!! my first face-up !!!
Of course I had no idea how to do that,lol...
I think it suppose to be done with some powders, minerals, special paints, acrylics... have no idea....
What I know is how to paint clay. Yes, I did it like I do with my clay dolls !!!! risking melted vinyl or whatever this doll is made of...

It works though.

I like to make them, I like to feel them so colourful in my hands.

It has been a while...
I felt that sculpting , which I love, was taking too much of my attention and I forgot to actually live. I made more space in my life for things I was doing not enough... I made myself present in daily tasks. I started to breath fresh air. I was doing more things, for my family and for myself.

It's all about balance.

I want to show you what I am working on.
I am making this figurine for someone special who pointed on opportunities that I didn't see and gave me courage to make a move.
It's for you Dear Helene (Intuitive Goddess) !
It's my own interpretation of Isis that you worship.
I hope you will like it...

My Isis is still in progress, she needs some costume and she needs to have her hair done but here she is so far ...

Sometimes I hear things in dreams, often I feel. Sometimes I know, I am not alone at night when I sculpt. I had a dream last night. These are not ordinary dreams, they are diffrent, like visits of someone, like a message... I heard the words "We have to be ONE", as ONE we are stronger". Whatever that means, it probably means something, probably it should...

Today Poland became one. One in sadness, one in prayer.
I join my country in my heart and thought.

I am working on something new. Some other things are left unfinished.
Here is a new thing. It has face and general idea but I don't know what it will become. Boy or Girl? Well...maybe today I will move on with this one.

Today I want to show you what I just made and what I am still working on.

First work in progress. I am working on my new Cinnamon. It's my first BJD. Some of you saw it already on my "Candy and Cinnamon" blog. It has no hands or legs yet but is already moving. Yeah, it works !!! So much fun ! I keep playing instead of working on it...

And here is my little squirrel-like creature. I have no idea how did this happen, I was just digging in clay and here it is, it took shape without my thinking or planning... there is something really strange about this little one, the way he/she watches me...

NEW CHAPTER

I started to write this blog and share my art with you a year ago.
I met so many beautiful souls, talented artists, great friends.

Thank you with all my heart, I appreciate all your visits, all your kind words ...

I was restless since some time, like when you feel that changes are coming or you feel you should change things, this "move on" kind of feelings.

Or maybe it's just spring poping up green leaves on the tree in my little garden and I am not ready yet.

A year ago I started this blog probably for the same reasons, to clean up, organize.
Today I want to be ready for NEW.

I started to digg in backgrounds, formats, colors... and I found myself back with my old good place. Sometimes we need to run away to find ourselves.

I am watching this blank blog, waiting for new inspirations.
I am watching it with a bit of regret that it's actually blank.
I am watching it with excitment of unknown, so many things I want to try or improve.

The result... I feel challenged by myself.
I feel actually refreshed in my old skin.

Katharsis? maybe... or maybe just one of my crazy moments.

Good to be back.
I love it.
